After St. Petersburg, the "Alta Moda, Grande Teatro" held in the beautiful environment of the Reggia di Venaria Reale, Turin, from 28th March to the 14th of September 2014.
The exhibition, curated by art and fashion historian Massimiliano Capella, reunites over 200 theatrical and concert costumes, sketches, and videos in the elegant Sala delle Arti. The videos tell the story of the encounter between two leading players – over 30 years of collaborations between the most prestigious Italian fashion houses, and the most important people in international theatre. Costumes worn in theatres around the world by artistes of the calibre of Carla Fracci, Mirella Freni, Raina Kabaivanska, Joaquin Cortes, Kiri Te Kanawa and June Anderson will be on show, so visitors can admire them up close, seeing all their fine detail and masterful finishes.
Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Missoni, Laura Biagiotti and Renato Balestra are just some of the fashion houses that decided to exhibit clothing from their archives. To these, we have added those from the private collections of Valentino Garavani, the Roberto Capucci Foundation, the Maurizio Galante Archive, the Missoni Archive, Roger Salas, and Raina Kabaivanska.
